Highest mountain in LA!!!
Come summit the tallest mountain in Los Angeles, Mt. Baldy (10,068 feet)!! Anyone obsessed with tall mountains, this summit is your rite of passage for living in LA. We start the summit Saturday, hike 5 miles up a steep elevation gain of 4,000ft. We will set up camp at the summit, enjoy sunset, a well deserved meal, and spend the night. We will pack up Sunday morning, head down the mountain and back to SC. This is a difficult summit, with no shade cover and loose rocks, so be prepared to be challenged!
WHAT TO BRING:
- Masks, hand sanitizer, and cleared Trojan Check (will be worn in all closed spaces
- Water bottle (or water bladder); you need 4 liters of carrying water capacity (4 nalgenes!!)
- 40-60L Backpacking backpack
- Sleeping bag/
- Sleeping Pad
- Sturdy hiking boots, or running shoes with great traction!
- Hiking clothes (hot during day) – Shorts, t shirt
- Sun protection – long sleeve, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat!
- warm socks
- Night/sleep clothes (Be prepared for cold and windy summit)
- Fleece jacket
- Puffy jacket
- Wind breaker/raincoat
- fleece pants/warm pants
- Extra socks
- Camp shoes for comfort
- personal toiletries
- Optional items: compass, knife, book, journal
